Alice M Larrabee Obituary (1930

Alice Mae (Lawson) Larrabee of Menomonie, WI was called home to her heavenly father on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born December 10, 1930, to the late Carl and Hazel (Steurer) Lawson at home in Alberta, MN. She attended school in Alberta and graduated from the Ninth grade. Family was a large part of Alices life. She found a loyal friend and lifelong partner when she met Roy Larrabee. Their story began when they eloped to get married August 1st, 1953. Bob and Jewel Creaser drove them to Iowa where they too decided to marry. Following marriage Alice and Roy created a family of four boys and one girl. Alice and Roy enjoyed 70 years of marriage in which Alice was a stay-at-home mother taking care of her children, friends, and family. She loved helping others and often went out of her way to ensure others were well taken care of. Her home always smelled of wood crafts and fresh baking. The loving welcoming atmosphere invited others to come visit. Her home was often full of family and friends with coffee on daily. Cookies and lemon drops were always available. Alices numerous hobbies include crafting, quilting, sewing, decorating, wedding cakes, painting, cross stitch, rag rug making, reading, and cooking to name a few. There was nothing crafty Alice could not do. She taught several grandchildren many crafts including sewing and baking. A few of the sewing projects earned blue ribbons at the Dunn County fair. At one time she sold her crafts at Country Crafts located next door to their long-time home above the Chippewa River. Alice and Roy took a dream vacation and drove from Wisconsin to Alaska. On the way home they came through the west visiting family along the way. Alice Mae Larrabee is survived by her three sons Ron (Char), Tom (Sue) of Menomonie and Marvin (Debra) of Elk Mound; sisters Frieda Erickson of Baldwin, Carol (Louie) of Eau Claire, Jewel (Bob) Creaser of Elk Mound, Brother David Lawson of Menomonie. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Alice is preceded in death by her husband Roy Larrabee, son Richard, daughter Judie Miller, parents Carl & Hazel Lawson, in laws Merle & Mable Larrabee, sister Georgia Vernon, brother Carl Lawson, sister Pauline Lawson, brother-in-law Roger (Eva Jean), Melvin (Mary), grandson Joshua Drinkman and great grandson Jaxon Larrabee. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 15, 2023 at Forest Center Church of the Nazarene in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Steve Crites officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday December 14, 2023, at Olson Funeral Home and a 1-hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will follow the funeral at Forest Center Cemetery in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County, WI.
