Correne E. Husby Obituary (1927

Correne E. Husby, age 86, of Menomonie, WI passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie, with her family by her side. The former Correne Emma Maves was born February 25, 1927 in Menomonie, WI to Herbert and Dorothy (Luethe) Maves and was baptized and confirmed at Tainter United Methodist Church. She grew up on the home farm in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co. WI, graduated from Colfax High School and attended Dunn County Normal for one year. After her schooling she taught for two years at Rusk School. After teaching, Correne worked for Montgomery Wards in St. Paul, MN for four years before returning to Menomonie. She then met and married Ron Husby Jr. on October 16, 1953 in Menomonie. Together they owned and operated Churchill Tire & Battery in Menomonie since 1975. Correne was a charter member and president of Jaycettes in Menomonie and a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, other needlework, traveling with her husband for Lion's Club events and meeting new friends. Correne is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ron Husby of Menomonie; her children, Rodney (Joan) Husby of Menomonie, Steve (Peggy) Husby of Menomonie, Kim (Bill) Wassik of Terryville, CT; nine grandchildren, Sharon Husby, Nick (Crystal) Husby, Matthew Husby, Brady (Vanessa) Husby, Jordon, Jacob, Benjamin, Courtney, Kaitlin Wassik; two great-grandchildren, Katherine and Sapphira Husby; a sister, Hazel Brook of Malvern, PA; a brother, John Maves of Elk Mound, WI; she is further survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Dorothy Maves; a brother, Paul Maves; and a sister, Phyllis Pelzer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Heather Wigdahl officiating. There will be visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in Mamre Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co. WI.
