James Joseph Janowak, age 70, of Menomonie, WI passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023. \n \n He was born March 27, 1953 to Frank and Ida Mae (Flanagan) Janowak in Lake Geneva, WI. \n \n After graduating high school, Jim traveled across Wisconsin working for the DNR in the State Park System until he settled in Dunn County. Here he served as the Superintendent for Hoffman Hills State Park, Red Cedar and Chippewa River Trails. Jim worked hard to maintain these recreational properties for the community. He was known for excellent groomed cross country ski trails, as well as establishing the prairie at Hoffman Hills to bring back native habitat for wild life. \n \n Jim is survived by two brothers; Jay (Mary) and Michael (Rosina), many nieces and nephews, and longtime partner Beth Alexander. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents and his dearest sister Mary. \n \n A private service for the family will be held in the spring. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI is handling arrangements.
