James W. Nitchkey, age 58, of Menomonie, WI passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. \n \n He was born July 11, 1953 in Menomonie, WI to Billy and Doris (Dohms) Nitchkey. Jim was raised in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1971. He then attended U.W. Stout until joining the U. S. Army in 1974. He served in several stateside locations including Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. until 1977. After his military service Jim returned to Menomonie and graduated from U.W. Stout in 1979, with a degree in Business Administration. \n \n Jim had several jobs in the Houston, TX area until moving back to Menomonie and going to work for the U.S. Post Office where he worked until retiring in 2009. \n \n Jim was a member of American Legion Post 32 and ABATE of Wisconsin. He also loved riding motorcycle and golfing. \n \n Jim is survived by: \n A brother, David Wood of Menomonie \n Three sisters, Georgia Lindstrom of Morganton, NC, \n Betty (Steve) Greger 0f Menomonie and Judy Nitchkey of Menomonie \n Also a special friend, Jennie Schutts of Menomonie \n As well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Doris Nitchkey and an infant sister. \n \n There will be a Celebration of Jim’s life at the Menomonie Golf and Country Club from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011. Please bring your favorite pictures and stories for the celebration. Burial will be in Teegarden Cemetery in the Twp. of Lucas, Dunn Co., WI, at a later date.
