James R. Stai

James R. Stai age 76, of Menomonie, WI passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at his home.

He was born October 18, 1948, in Menomonie, WI to William Stai Sr and Lorraine (Schultz.) He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1966. Following High School on January 7, 1969, Jim was drafted into the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam he served as a Clerk Typist for the Army.

Jim married Barb (Leach), his lovely, on September 29, 1984, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI. Jim had two daughters, Teresa (from a previous marriage with Kay Stai) and Brittany.

Jim is survived by his wife Barb of 40 years; two daughters Teresa (Collin) Sleichert, Brittany (Fiancé Ben); and two grandchildren Sydney and Sam Sleichert. Along with two brothers William Jr (Rosie) Stai, and Robert (Connie) Stai; five sisters Sue (Duane) Jensen, Julie (Ron) Bien, Jean (Dave) Somsen, Joan (Doug) Wahl, and Peggy (Steve) Schultz; mother-in-law Audrey Leach; sister-in-law Brenda Sorenson (Gary); brother-in-law Brad (Dee) Leach, as well as too many good friends to note.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr and Lorraine, brother Jerry, and father-in-law Jule Leach, brothers-in-law Kevin Sorenson and Dana Cook, along with his best friend David Ponto.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Olson Funeral Home with Josh Svejcar & Dave Buss officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be performed by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard in the parking lot following the service. A reception will be held at Dean and Sues from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.
