Rev. James Thunstrom Obituary (1945

REVEREND JAMES THUNSTROM Reverend James Thunstrom died at home in Fall Creek on Thursday, July 16, 2009. He was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in May. Jim was born on April 2, 1945 in Rush City, MN to Fillmore and Cleo (Waldhoff) Thunstrom. He had seven siblings, all sisters. After graduating from seminary, he was appointed to be a pastor for the Wisconsin United Methodist Conference. He served rural and small town churches all around the state, most recently Colfax and Tainter churches. While serving the Altoona UMC, he met and married Susan Gardow. Jim retired just a few weeks ago. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a voracious reader, enjoyed the works of C.S. Lewis and A.W. Tozer in particular. James was very outgoing and was not afraid to talk to anyone about Jesus Christ. Awaiting him in the kingdom of heaven are his parents, a sister, Michelle and a granddaughter Kali. Jim is survived by: His wife, Susan Four sons, Jack (Jodie) Thunstrom of Germantown, Jon (Nicole) Thunstrom of Monroe, Joseph Thunstrom of Fall Creek and Jesse Thunstrom of Eau Claire Six sisters, Judith Renard, Camille Rainer, Valerie Mitthun, Sheryl Quick, Renee Dimich and Jewell Peterson Seven grandchildren, James, Brett, Travis, Amber, Marissa, Andrew and Kalin Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A private family service will be held at Tainter United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation open to all who wish to attend also at Tainter United Methodist Church from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Rev Jim requested memorials to Hope Mission a church school in Kenya c/o Hope Mission-Colfax United Methodist Church or Green Pasture Christian Outreach-P.O.
