John S. Sleichert, age 70, of Menomonie, WI passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at his home. \n \n He was born Aug. 16, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Genevieve (Platsky) Sleichert. John graduated from Luther High School South in Chicago, attended Ripon College and then received his Masters from Northern Illinois University. \n \n On Aug. 20, 1966 John married Karen Zoellick in Chicago. They moved to the Menomonie area in 1978 and started Colfax Agrow Service in 1982 where John was currently working with his son in the business. \n \n John’s family was very important to him and he loved attending the grandchildren’s games and other activities. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He also liked to travel and play cards in Florida and will always be remembered for his jokes and stories. John was a member and past commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Florida. \n \n John is survived by his wife, Karen; a son Collin (Teresa) Sleichert; grandchildren, Sydney and Samuel; a brother, James (Monika) Sleichert of Florida; as well as other relatives and friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents. \n \n Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Curtis Brooks officiating. There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. \n \n Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church in John’s memory.
