Joyce E. Marine, age 82, of Menomonie, WI passed away peacefully at home on her beloved front porch on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. \n \n The former Joyce Christison was born Nov. 10, 1929 in Menomonie, WI to Burton and Elsie (Morrell) Christison. She attended Knapp State Grade School and graduated from Menomonie High School. \n \n Joyce married Robert Marine in November of 1946 following his service in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II. She worked as a secretary for the Dunn County Veterans Office before marriage and when their youngest child (of six) turned four she went to work as a secretary for the Menomonie School System for ten years, and for the Menomonie Office of District One Vocational School for fifteen years. After her husband's death in 1985, Joyce worked many short term jobs including, Snyder Drug, Miller Real Estate, Northtown Motors, Nancy D's Dress Shop, Coffin's Department Store, Edward D. Jones and at the Congregational Church. \n \n Joyce was president and very active in P.T.A., local, district and state boards. She was president of Band Parents, involved with Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts and Little League. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, advisor for church Luther League, taught Bible School, attended Bible study, sang in the church choir and was Our Savior's Sunshine chairman. She sang in the Community Chorus, was past board member and volunteer at Myrtle Werth Hospital as well as volunteer at Mabel Tainter Theater, Wilson Place Museum and Bundy Hall. She was also past board member of Evergreen Cemetery Association and was an Ambassador with the Menomonie Chamber of Commerce. \n \n Her most important job was parenting her six wonderful children and also very important to her was faith, family and friends. \n \n Joyce is survived by five children, Rick Marine, Bobby (C.Ray) Johnson, Gary (Nancy) Marine, Becky Marine and Teri (John) Wagner; her grandchildren, Lora (Scott) Pechacek, Matthew (Lisa) Marine, Jessica (Josh) Wise, Kevin (Andrea) Johnson, Paul (Libby) Johnson, Andy (Lisa) Wagner, Michael (Jenny) Marine, Jamie Wagner and Casey (Tyler) Olson; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister Shirley Salter and other relatives and friends. \n \n She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Elsie Christison, her step father Ralph Turner, her husband Robert Marine, a son Randy Marine, grandson Craig Johnson, granddaughter April Wagner, sister Evelyn Olson, brother Lowell Christison, step sister Fran Nelson and beloved mother-in-law Sophie Marine. \n \n Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Mark Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie. There will be visitation from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
