Julie Ann Penner

Julie Ann Penner, age 62, of Wheeler, WI, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2020, at her home.

Julie was born on May 14, 1957, in St. Paul, MN, to Richard Penner and Barbara (Betz). Her childhood years were spent in Sioux Falls, SD. She always had very fond memories of her time there. She moved to Apple Valley, MN in 1970 and attended high school at Rosemount HS.
Julie was a free spirit who lived her life like a great adventure. She played the piano, loved music and enjoyed getting together with people. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, and traveled to Guatemala, Mexico, and throughout the US. She lived close to the earth, was an avid gardener and generously shared her produce with all her friends and family. Other hobbies included hiking, cross country skiing, camping, cooking and horseback riding. Julie was a caretaker of animals, children and elderly. She had a special relationship with her grandmother, Genieve Betz.

Julie worked as a nursing assistant for many years. She owned two hobby farms. In most recent years, she built a small home on her land at the People’s Farm in Wheeler, WI, that she was a part of since 1979.

Julie is survived by her son Cassidy Jones; her mother Barbara Penner; her grandchildren, Zeke, Jaayson, Collin, Gwendalyn and Jayden; great- grandchildren, Artionis and Fenrir; her siblings Susan (Chris) Boreland, Theresa Willcox, and Steven (Traci) Penner; nephew and nieces, Joshua, Jessi, Ashley, Samantha, Vanessa, Nicole, Sarah, Jennifer, Rebecca and Heather, and many great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her friend, Christina Carns, and her children, Autumn and Brook, to whom she was like a mother and grandmother.
Julie leaves behind her best friend, her dog Ace, who was her constant companion.

Julie is preceded in death by her father Richard Penner, her son Jedediah Jones, and her nephew Shawn Penner.

Due to the current Covid virus, there will not be any services at this time. A Celebration of Life is being planned for the future when we can safely gather again. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is assisting the family.
