LaMoyne "Bud" & Maxine Overby Obituary (1931 - 2014)

Together in life and death, LaMoyne (Bud) George Overby and Maxine Lenore Overby were called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, only 14 hours apart from each other. LaMoyne was born in Catawba, WI on September 18, 1931 to George and Esther (Mittlestadt) Overby. Maxine was born in Eau Galle, WI on March 22, 1932 to Edwin and Olinda (Dahl) Johnson. They each moved to Menomonie, WI where they later met, fell in love, and were married at Christ Lutheran Church on September 21, 1952. In 1964, they moved their family to Eau Claire, WI where Bud worked as a lineman with Northern States Power for the next 28 years. Maxine liked her part-time work, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mom and grandma. Family came first in their lives as evidenced by the countless special memories they created for their children and grandchildren. Bud and Maxine faithfully served at their church and were known for selflessly giving of their time, talents, and resources to help others. They also loved to travel, and their trip to Alaska was a highlight for them both. Bud enjoyed working outdoors whether it was on a house project, a car, or the lawn. Maxine enjoyed sewing and knitting for her granddaughters, baking all sorts of yummy treats, and painting. With a willing heart, Maxine lovingly cared for Bud over the many years he suffered from illness. They will both be remembered for their positive outlook on life and trust in the Lord, especially in the midst of various health problems. They have left their family a legacy of faith, love, hard work, strength, and humility. They are survived by their two children: Ronald (Jan) Overby and Rhonda (Rick) Roesch; four grandchildren: Kristin (Andrew) Parks, Stephanie (Derrick) Williams, Kayla (Peter) Kautzer, and Amanda (Josh) Svendal; and five great-grandchildren: Shawn Williams, Lucas and Arianna Svendal, Logan Kautzer, and Elyse Parks. Bud's surviving siblings include Marlin Overby, Eugene (Janice) Overby, and Delores (Ralph) Stark. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Gloria Overby. Maxine's surviving siblings include Garland (Mary) Johnson and Clifford (Patti) Johnson, and brother-in-law, Roger Weiman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marlas Weiman; her brother and his wife, Richard and Lucy Johnson; and her sister and her husband, Avis and Jack Quilling. A visitation will be held at Olson Funeral Home, 615 Wilson Avenue, Menomonie, WI, on Wednesday, June 25 from 4-7 p.m. A celebration of their lives will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 3036 Epiphany Lane, Eau Claire, WI, on Thursday, June 26 at 11 a.m. Family and friends may call at the church an hour before the service. Burial will be at Tramway Cemetery, Menomonie Township, Dunn County. Bud and Maxine's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Milestone Assisted Living for their care and kindness this past year. Additionally, the love, compassion and support shown by the doctors, nurses and staff at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Eau Claire was a gift beyond measure.
