Laurane A Wendt, age 91, of Menomonie, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie. \n \n The former Laurane Almeda Cummings was born on April 13, 1922 in the Town of Dunn, Dunn Co., WI, to Earl and Edith (Weeks) Cummings.. She attended Valley View School, graduated from Menomonie High School and attended evening classes at the Technical School. \n \n She was formerly married to Allen Wendt and together they had one son, Lynden Wendt. They later divorced. She farmed with Allen most of her life and owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn Restaurant in Menomonie. \n \n She was a lifelong member of Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church and community. She was secretary of the Menomonie Saddle Club for many years and was a caller for the saddle club Square Dance and Drill team for the Minnesota State Fair. She really had a passion for horses and riding. In her younger years, she enjoyed regular square dancing and served as president of the Pairs and Squares square dance club of Menomonie. Laurane loved to play cards and helped arrange Euchre and 500 card parties at the Senior Center. She also enjoyed bowling, playing pool, baking and ceramics. \n \n Laurane was a very caring person and loved her family dearly. In more recent years she really enjoyed seeing her great grandchildren. \n \n Laurane is survived by: \n Her son, Lynden Wendt \n Three grandchildren, \n Jody (Tony) Lemke, Lori (Ryan) Olson and Jeremy Wendt \n 8 great-grandchildren, \n Logan, Rayna and Kendra Lemke; Lukas, Maya and Carver Olson; and Austin and Cody Wendt \n Two sisters-in-law, Adeline and Charlotte "Chuck" Cummings all of Menomonie \n And other relatives and friends \n \n She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Charles and Dale Cummings, and her daughter-in-law, Geraldine Wendt. \n \n Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Little Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Twp. Red Cedar, Dunn Co. WI, with Pastor Dale Moe officiating. Burial will be in Forest Center Cemetery, Twp. Spring Brook, Dunn Co. WI. There will be visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
