Leon Peter Weber, age 81, of Menomonie, WI passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. \n \n He was born March 24, 1930 on Morton Hill, Dunn Co., WI to Peter O. and Elsie F. (Topp) Weber. He was baptized at birth and confirmed in August of 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church in Weber Valley. Leon graduated from Elmwood High School in 1949. He has been a lifelong member of his church, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elmwood then St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie, serving ten years on the church board in Elmwood. \n \n Leon married Berdena Lois Weinzirl on April 18, 1951 at Eau Galle Methodist Church. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and their 80th birthdays in March, with family and friends. \n \n Together they farmed for 30 years with Leon also working off the farm at times. He loved driving semi’s and drove for over ten years for Earl and Roy Wayne of Durand and Phoenix Steel in Eau Claire. He drove the road grader for Eau Galle Township in the winter of 1967. From June of 1975 until his retirement in 1993 he was employed by 3M in Menomonie. \n \n Leon and Berdena sold their farm and bought a home in Menomonie where they have lived since 1980. \n \n Leon’s pastime was spent fishing on Bass and Big Sand Lakes near Spooner. He also enjoyed deer hunting. \n \n Leon is survived by: His wife, Berdena \n Three children, Jody Ann (Mike) Christenson of Plymouth, MN; Gregory Charles (Paulynn) Weber of Milwaukee; and Jean Marie (Reid) Rehbein of Lino Lakes, MN \n Nine grandchildren, Matthew, Katie, Emilie, Sabrina and Samantha Weber of Milwaukee; Vanessa (Nate) Christenson Herman of Maple Grove, MN, Andrew, Jessica and Erick Bloom of Lino Lakes, MN \n Two great-grandchildren, Aubrie and Ashton Herman \n His sister, Carol Jean (Ralph) Dudley of Centertown, MO \n A brother-in-law, Lloyd Weinzirl of Elmwood \n Also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Donna Weinzirl and a brother-in-law, Charles (Won) Weinzirl. \n \n Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Brett Voigt officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Weber Valley Cemetery in the Twp. of Eau Galle, Dunn Co., WI. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family. \n \n In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
