Leota E. Tilleson, age 97, of Menomonie, WI passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at Comforts of Home assisted living in Menomonie. \n \n The former Leota Elvina Schultz was born October 3, 1913 in the Town of Sherman, Dunn Co., Wisconsin, to William and Victoria (Hansen) Schultz. She was raised in the Cedar Falls area. \n \n Leota married Jay Tilleson and together they farmed on the Rusk Prairie for many years. After selling the farm they built a home in Cedar Falls where she lived until moving to the Comforts of Home. \n \n She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie for several years. After retiring she did home care. \n \n Leota was a life-long member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was also an avid sports fan, she loved golfing, especially at White Tail Golf Course, bowling and playing cards. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. \n \n Leota is survived by: \n Her brother, Gerald (Barbara) Schultz of Hungry Horse, MT \n Two sisters both of Menomonie, Mary (Kenneth) Tilleson and Joyce (Gilmer) Hagen. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. \n \n She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jay, brothers, Harold and William Schultz and sisters, Viola Steinmeyer and Fern Boyes. \n \n Leota’s family would like to thank Dr. Dan Johnson and the staff at Comforts of Home for their loving care. \n \n Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls Cemetery in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co., WI. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
