Louis Elman Johnson, age 93, of Colfax, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie. \n Louis was born on September 27, 1922 to Arthur and Dina (Christianson) Johnson in Colfax. He graduated from Colfax High School and married Helen Scharr on March 11, 1949. \n Louie was a jack of all trades and had done many different trades of work; they included logging, carpentry, mining uranium, growing tobacco and operating Fun Valley which was a snowmobile recreation area. But, he is best known for his ownership of Johnson Sales & Service of Lake Tainter. \n He was an avid baseball and Packer fan, but Nascar was his favorite. In fact he spent his last evening enjoying the races at Red Cedar Speedway. \n Louie is survived by his son David (Lucy) of Illinois, daughters Judy Miller of Colfax, and Susan Griffith of Menomonie. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. \n He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, brother Juel, and son-in-law Robert Miller. \n The family would like to thank everyone from The Neighbors of Dunn County and especially Inglenook Terrace for making Louie a part of their family. \n Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie. Burial will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service.
