Marjorie Lee Norris

–

Menomonie, Wisconsin

Marjorie Lee Norris (Curtiss) was born April 18, 1929 in Washington, D.C. to Harold and Eva (Teague) Curtiss. She lived the first 26 years of her life in one house on E Street. After marrying Arthur Norris on June 25, 1955, the family moved frequently and she never lived longer than 4 ½ years in any one place. That is, until she moved to Menomonie in November 1988 and made it her home for 25 years.

Marge passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Dunn County Health Care Center, having spent her last days surrounded by loving family, friends and the extraordinarily kind and compassionate staff of DCHCC.

Marge had a big heart – literally and figuratively. She was a "blue baby," born with a heart defect that was inoperable at that time. Told she would never live into her teens, she went on to prove many doctors wrong. She married and had her first child, Leslie, and then at almost 30 years of age had heart surgery to repair the defect that was supposed to end her life early. She had her second daughter, Lynne, and then went on to continue to live a full and fabulous life for 53 more years.

While she only gave birth to two children, Marge had a way of "adopting" people as family throughout her life, and once you were part of her brood, you were hers forever. She is survived by her two daughters, Leslie Norris (James Miller) and Lynne (Scott) Myers, granddaughters Heather Rich, Sarah Miller (Nick Abraham), Melissa Myers and her daughter and son, Elizabeth and Liam, grandson Ian Miller (Jill Bryan) and their daughter, Hazel Marie, grandson of her heart, Ben Pierson (Ashley Holderread), niece, Jacque (Mark) Jenkins, nephew, Stephen (Pam) Star, great-niece, Victoria Bailey and her daughters, Jenna and Kendall, and great-nephew, Jon-Mikel (Marrah) Bailey and their daughter, Lennah. Additionally, she is survived by children of her heart, Isabel, Ingrid and Hayley Rich, Erica Hanson and Carl Saueressig, Cadie Monson, Anna (Aaron) Zook and their daughter, Mamie, Patty Plemon, Christine MacKenzie (Bob Smith) and their son, Charlie, and Kathy (Dave) McQueen and their daughters, Alison, Stephanie and Sandra.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Harold Curtiss, sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Bob Teague, brother-in-law, Robert Norris, and great-grandson, Jordan Clark.

Marge wanted only a Memorial Service and a party to celebrate her life. The Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 24, 5:00 pm at the First Congregational Church in Menomonie, 420 Wilson Avenue. The celebration will continue at 6:30 pm at the home of her daughter, Leslie Norris and son-in-law, James Miller, at 1414 10th Avenue East in Menomonie. Everyone whose life was touched by this extraordinary lady is welcome to come.
