Mary O. Wolf

Mary Owen Wolf, age 66, of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie, following a long battle with cancer.
Mary was born January 23, 1947 in Red Wing, MN to Robert O. and Allyene A. (Meyer) Halls. She graduated from Ellsworth High School and went on to get her degree in elementary education at Wisconsin State University, River Falls.
She married Richard Wolf on August 9, 1968 at the Ellsworth English Lutheran Church. They settled in River Falls, WI where they had two children, Jason and Jessica, before moving to Menomonie, WI in 1984.

Mary realized her life-long goal of becoming a teacher and taught elementary and middle school students in Prescott, River Falls, Menomonie and Elk Mound. Her students all remember her enthusiastic teaching, artistic bulletin boards, and habit of bringing treats to celebrate Minnesota Vikings victories.
Mary loved and cherished family. She never missed an opportunity, large or small, to encourage or support her loved ones. She was a proud grandmother to grandsons Blake and Carson, and as often as possible could be found in the stands wholeheartedly cheering their efforts on the football field or basketball court. Some of her happiest times were those spent as "Nana," making her signature pancakes and Rice Krispy bars.
Mary channeled her boundless artistry and grace into her church community. Together with husband, Rich, she helped make Menomonie United Methodist a more welcoming and beautiful place in every season. As a team, they contributed their time and talents to the church year round, but the Christmas season was always Mary's favorite.
Many years of motorcycle adventures with Rich left Mary with countless fond memories. She loved seeing the country from the back of the bike and documented each trip in colorful words and pictures. The Labor Day trip with cherished friends was an annual highlight for over 40 years.
Mary is survived by her husband Rich, brother Doug (Juanita) Halls, son Jason (Meredith), daughter Jessica Trainor, grandsons Blake and Carson Trainor, a nephew, several nieces and many dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert and mother Allyene; maternal grandparents, Fred and Lizzie Meyer; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Hilda Halls; and in-laws, Laverne and Sylvia Wolf.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Friday, December 27, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Don Gribble officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
