Rev. Maynard J. Larson, age 80, of Menomonie, WI; died, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at The Dunn County Healthcare Center in Menomonie. \n \n Pastor Larson was born July 23, 1929 near Spicer, MN the son of John & Mabel (Pedersen) Larson. He attended grade school and graduated from High School in The Willmar MN school system in 1947. After graduation he attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and it was then that his decision was made to enter the Christian Ministry and graduated in 1951. He continued his "faith walk" by then attending Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN. As a young intern he continued his studies serving in Chetek/Dovre churches in WI. He was ordained in Willmar, MN in 1955. He accepted a call from a church in Zahl, ND and with all clergy, over the years was called to many other churches to speak God's ministry. He served in Minot, ND, Glenwood City, WI Blaire, WI, Tigerton, WI, Amery, WI and retired from the ministry after serving Ridgeland and Hay River, WI. During this ministry he was married to Phyllis Johnson on June 30, 1959 in Dawson, MN \n \n Pastor Maynard loved sharing the word of God with all his parishioners throughout the years. The decision of his "Faith Walk", made in 1947 was truly his inspiration for life and the Lord's Message he could convey to all. \n \n He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Menomonie, and was preceded in death by his parents. \n \n A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11:00 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Roy Harrisville, III officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. His cremation remains will be taken to rest at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Olson Funeral Home of Menomonie is serving the family.
