Nicole Kay Henderson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at the age of 40, from complications of Cystic Fibrosis. Nikki battled CF her entire life, but beat the odds and lived well beyond the predicted life expectancy for this disease. Her strong Christian faith gave her great comfort and strength in her struggles. \n \n Nikki was the Menomonie High School Class of 1989 valedictorian, attended U.W. Madison and then got her R.N. degree from U.W. Eau Claire. Post college Nikki was a registered nurse at the American Lutheran Home where she loved caring for her elderly patients. Nikki's dedication to care-giving went well beyond her nursing career. She always put the needs of others before herself. Even in her last days, Nikki's thoughts were for the well-being of her family. \n \n Kind, sweet, unselfish and brave, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Nikki touched the lives of all she met and will be greatly missed. \n \n Nikki is survived by her father, Vorland (Kate) Henderson, her mother Lynda Henderson, sister Susan (Chris) Shorts, brother Scott (Melissa) Henderson, stepbrother Josh Gibson; nieces and nephews, Max and Alex Henderson, Sophia Shorts and Carly and Cayden Gibson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. \n \n She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfred and Ann Henderson and George and Lorraine Schutts. \n \n Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Katherine's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Beyer Settlement) with Pastor Shawn Kauffeld officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
