Nyla Jean Storing, age 79, of Boyceville, WI passed away peacefully Friday, November 6, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
She was born August 5, 1936 to Lloyd and Alma (Loback) Jones at the home farm in Sherman Township. Nyla married Arlen Beckwith on August 17, 1956. To this union three daughters were born, Pamela, Beth, and Julie. They were divorced in 1971 and Nyla married David J. Storing from Menomonie on March 15, 1980.
They were active in thoroughbred horse racing in Illinios, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Canterbury Downs in Minnesota and other tracks around the country. Nyla worked various jobs plus caring for the horses. She worked at Westconsin Credit Union and at UW STOUT in the later years. She enjoyed baking, family, friends, and card playing.
Nyla is survived by two daughters:
Pamela Brown, Louisiana. Julie (Dan) Fedderly, Boyceville.
3 Granddaughters: Morgan Fedderly, Eau Claire. Ashley (Peter) Score, Boyceville. Tracie Brown, Madison.
3 Great-Granddaughters: Layla Score, Signey Gibson, Danica Score
1 Brother: Merlyn (Shirley) Jones.
Nyla is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Beth.
It is said that “Well behaved women seldom make history.” And that would accurately explain why Nyla has left behind a few standout pages. A free spirit right out of the gate, Nyla was a trailblazer who raced through life with a hop (and occasionally a good scotch on the rocks), Skip (always by her side) and a jump (usually during Packers games) in her step.
Thank you for breaking a mold, setting an example, and making sure you had a secure spot in history and in our hearts. Go on walkin' after midnight... we love you forever.
...And, we will be listening close for your coaching advice on game day, you have a heck of a seat up there now.
There will be a Gathering in Nyla’s memory from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 (noon) on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 at Olson funeral Home in Menomonie followed by a Graveside Service at Sherman Cemetery in the Town of Sherman, Dunn County, WI with Pastor Tim Matthaei officiating.
