Owen Hansen Obituary (1916

OWEN R. HANSEN Owen Rupert Hansen, age 89, of Menomonie, WI passed away quietly at home, on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 10:20 p.m. Owen was born in Esterville, Iowa on May 31, 1916 to Harry and Florence (Olsen) Hansen. He grew up in Dunn County, WI on the "Company Farm" near Cedar Falls and what is now the "Twin Springs Campgrounds". He later met Caroline Louise Riemer from Alberta, Canada and they were married July 8, 1949 in Lavoy, Alberta. Owen built their house 1� miles northeast of Cedar Falls on County Road BB where they lived for over 50 years. He had his own business "Hansen's Electric Motors" in Menomonie, where he sold and repaired electric motors. Many will remember driving past his shop on the 2400 block of South Broadway (a small quonset building where the car wash is now) and seeing his hand-painted signs in the windows of his shop which said "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." He would go to great lengths to fix a motor in the least expensive and best way possible. Owen never put time or money into building a name or a business for himself. He was more interested in letting people know about his savior, Jesus Christ. Those who brought motors into his shop for repairs heard the Christian music and some would apologize for a "slip" of the tongue (their language), not realizing that they did not need to answer to Owen, but to his God. Owen was a soft spoken, kind and loving father and husband. His life was an example of Christ whether he was driving the Sunday School bus, fixing something around the church or at the Chetek Bible Camp. Often he had a kind smile for someone who needed it, or a helping hand to some small child close by. Owen showed his love for his Savior first of all by his devotion to Him and his service for Him. John 14: 1 - 6, Jesus promised to go and prepare a place . . . Owen has gone to see the place prepared for him. Do you know for sure where your home is when it is your time? Owen is survived by: His wife of 56 years, Carol Three daughters, Alexia (Mitch) Nelson of Menomonie Deborah (Dennis) Engler of Donalds, SC Kimberly (Andrew) Rynsburger of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchidlren A sister, Louise Dansare of Shoreview, MN And other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence (Olsen) Hansen, father, Harry Hansen, step-mother, Clara (Riemer) Hansen; and brothers Richard Hansen and Dale Hansen. A family graveside service was held at Cedar Falls Cemetery. A "Home Going Celebration" is planned for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Menomonie.
