Perry R. Klingman, age 56, of Menomonie, WI passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie. \n \n He was born July 22, 1957 in Menomonie, WI to Richard L. and Mavis (Rogers) Klingman. Perry moved with his family to St. Louis Park, MN where he grew up, returning to Boyceville where he graduated from high school in 1976. While still in high school Perry joined the WI National Guard and served during the time the National Guard was called to Waupun Prison. \n \n After his time with the National Guard, Perry enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corp and later the U. S. Navy where he served on the USS Midway with the 7th Fleet in Japan. When he reenlisted in the Navy he served with the 6th Fleet out of Norfolk, VA. His ship the Newport News landed the Marines in Beirut. \n \n Following his military service, Perry attended Tech School in New Richmond for welding. He worked at Nor Lake building industrial refrigerators. He then worked for several farmers in Dunn, Barron and Polk counties until he was unable to work because of health problems. Perry lived in Knapp until moving to Care Partners two years ago. \n \n Perry loved fishing and also enjoyed flying radio controlled planes. \n \n Perry is survived by his children, Andrew and Kirsten; three brothers, Michael and Ronald of Menomonie and Terrance of Knapp; he is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and a brother Daniel. \n \n A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. There will be visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in Teegarden Cemetery in the Town of Lucas, Dunn Co. WI with military honors by Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.
