Robert Carrol Smith, age 71, of Menomonie, WI passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 after battling Pancreatic Cancer. \n \n He was born Sept. 10, 1944 in Menomonie, WI to Carrol E. and Vivian (Decker) Smith. Bob grew up on a farm in the Town of Sherman, Dunn County and graduated from Menomonie High School. \n \n Bob married Kathleen Pauly and together they had a daughter, Angela. \n \n He owned and operated the Red Roan Bar for many years and also worked and retired from the Dunn County Highway Dept. \n \n Bob was an avid sports fan for both local and professional teams. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for the Red Roan Bar team and for the Menomonie Blues team. Bob loved to travel out west and in recent years enjoyed spending winters in AZ. He also enjoyed time at the dog park with his dog, Gus. But most importantly, Bob loved spending time with his grandsons and cooking big breakfasts for them. He will be sadly missed. \n \n Bob is survived by his daughter, Angela Murray (fiancé Paul Wurtz); two grandsons, Brennan and Evan Murray; and other relatives and friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cathy Ruehfel. \n \n There will be visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie.
