Roland D. Kistner, age 86, passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2024 at his home in Menomonie, WI.
He was born October 17, 1937 to Chester and Thelma Kistner in Dunn County, WI, attended Downsville Elementary and Menomonie High School.
Roland went into the military in 1956 where he served until 1958. In 1959 he married Millie Thibado and they moved to rural Menomonie, WI and raised their family.
In 1959 he began working as a heavy equipment operator for Watland construction and eventually as a heavy equipment operator for the Menomonie Dunn County Highway Department where he retired from.
Roland retired in 1999, but found himself working again and having the best time at T&T Construction. He also worked here and there along the way for others and operating machines he enjoyed while chatting with everyone along the way.
He loved his family and spending time with them, telling the “old days” stories. He and Millie were amazing dancers and had fun on the dance floor, playing cards and games to pass time and time together with their grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his tractor out and staying busy by gardening, visiting with friends and joking around with his long time neighbor, taking walks in the woods, feeding his deer, birds and squirrels and was always willing to help others.
Roland enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his sons and great grandson, Parker.
He also enjoyed attending all the school activities for his children and grandchildren and he could chant all the cheers right along with his daughter and granddaughters cheerleading squads. Known affectionately as “Bboop” to all the great grandchildren he had many inside jokes with each of them. They were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Millie and his children, Trudy (Doug), Steve (Melinda), and Tricia (Rich), his grandchildren, Tara (Joel), Corisa (Mike), Hilary, Kade and Dean. His great grandchildren Parker, Presley, Greta and Hadie, and his fur grandchildren Ruffy, Murphy and Mauer.
He is also survived by siblings, many nieces, nephews and many many friends.
