Sarah “Sally” E. Rogers, age 85, of Menomonie, passed away quietly on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at her home. \n \n Sally was born on March 25, 1938, the daughter of Francis Corbin and Constance (nee Pedrick) Corbin. Sally’s husband Buck predeceased her in 2019. \n \n Sally’s journey as an independent woman in an era that hadn’t given its permission to be so, gave confidence to others to do the same. She earned a BA from Hood College in Maryland and a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. That education prepared Sally to follow her passion and make a career in the world of art. Sally is most known for her vibrant watercolor paintings, but also involved herself in wood block, pastels and charcoal drawings. Her artwork hangs in many private homes, businesses and government buildings around the state and country. \n \n Sally met Buck, the love of her life, in 1966 while stabling horses near the Eagle/Whitewater area in Wisconsin. After a brief courtship, she and Buck married in 1967 and eventually moved with their horses to Menomonie. Sally started substitute teaching part time and then full time in the Menomonie school district. \n \n In the following 52 years they raised two precocious boys and built a life in the Wisconsin farm country. With room to ride, room to paint, and room to work, the next few decades were full of color. Both during her working career and after retirement Sally taught classes outside of the school to anyone who wanted to attend. She was a part of the Arts Comings Together (ACT) group, kept active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and even played guitar with a folk band. \n \n Sally is survived by her brother Doug (Sue) of McLean, VA, her children Brian (Sara) of Erin, Wis., Kevin (Cathy) of Menomonie, and her three grandchildren Anneka, Waylon, and Traven Rogers. Sally will be missed immensely, and her art will remind us all of the beauty that persists. \n \n Please join us for a celebration of life at Olson’s Funeral home in Menomonie, on Wednesday, Dec. 27 from 3-6 pm. A private family burial service will be held at a later date.
