Scott C. Hillstead of Amery, WI, died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on March 17, 2015, WI, at the age of 53. \n \n Scott was born on April 27th, 1961 in Menomonie, WI to Charles and Genevieve (Faber) Hillstead. He graduated from Menomonie High School in 1979. He attended UW Stout while working as Manager at the former Nabors L-Mart Drug. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in Industrial Engineering in 1983. After moving to Waseca, MN, he worked for the former Brown Printing Co. where he met his wife Anita. They were married August 18, 1990 in Menomonie, WI at Peace Lutheran Church. They began their journey together with a move to Pontiac, IL, where Scott worked as Superintendent in a Finishing Department at Ringier America. While working full time, he completed an executive MBA at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and they were blessed with their second daughter, Ariana. They moved back to Wisconsin, spending 7 years in Baraboo working for Perry Graphic Communications, then had the opportunity to be General Manager for the former Banta Global Turnkey in Plover, WI. The family spent the next 12 years growing their family in Stevens Point, WI. He pursued his dream of consulting, founding SCH Specialties LLC. After working with other entities, he joined with DG Graphics based in Nashville, TN. \n \n Scott was a very God sent man, who was patient, and had words of wisdom. His love of people lead him to be a mentor to many, modeling his life after Christ in every motion he made and word that he spoke. He touched the lives of every person he met with a smile and optimism, no matter what he was dealt. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting with his two beloved English Springer Spaniels (Hailey & Ava); he loved designing his houses he built and landscaped especially his dream lake home. Scott was a coach and role model to his daughters, always there to calm the waters and guide them to stand on their own two feet. He was a very selfless man who always put others first and spoke his famous life lesson “Enjoy the Journey.” \n \n Scott is survived by his wife Anita (Gregor) Hillstead; daughter Ariana Hillstead, daughter Sharisa (Brad) Ruh, 2 granddaughters Evelyn and Celia Ruh; sister Debra (Ron) Micek, God parents Barry and Linda Schafhauser, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Genevieve Hillstead. \n \n A Celebration of Life for Scott will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie with Pastor Kristine Stedje officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Township of Cady, St. Croix County. \n \n The family suggests memorials to St. Michael’s Cemetery or charity of donor’s choice.
