Wendell C. Ranney, age 70, of Menomonie, WI went home to his heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 peacefully while at his home. \n \n He was born March 15th, 1945 in Menomonie, WI to Clifford and Sylvia (Olson) Ranney. He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1963. He graduated from UW-Stout with a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation in 1974. \n \n Wendell was a police officer for many years and the first juvenile officer for Dunn County in the early 70s. He taught at UW-Stout in the Vocational Rehab department for five years, and then entered into real estate and insurance sales. \n \n He graduated from Liberty University with a degree in General Bible Course in 2010. He was then honored with his Certificate of Ordination from the National Association of Christian Ministers in 2012. He was truly blessed to preach God’s Word over the past few years and was very involved with the Prison Ministry in Eau Claire. His priorities in life were his faith, his family, and his grandchildren. He referred to his wife Mary as his angel. \n \n Wendell married Mary Staehling on Sunday, August 14th, 1966 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie. They have two daughters, Sarah and Anna. \n \n Wendell is survived by: \n His wife, Mary of Elk Mound \n Two daughters, \n Sarah (Matt) Bosin of Inver Grove Heights, MN \n Anna (Tony) Jennison of Apple Valley, MN \n He is also survived by six grandchildren, \n Andrew and Laura Bosin \n Michael, Elizabeth, Amelia and Evelyn Jennison \n He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Avis Ranney, and several nieces, nephews, other family members as well as many dear friends. \n \n He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Sylvia; a brother, Edgar; a sister, Dianne; and other close relatives and friends. \n \n A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9th at Oakridge Lutheran Brethren Church in Menomonie. Family and friends are welcome at the church from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday for a visitation. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is serving the family.
