How quickly are services usually scheduled following a passing?
The timing of a funeral can vary depending on the type of service and family needs:

• Traditional Funerals typically take place within a week of passing.
• Cremation Services offer more flexibility, allowing families extra time to make arrangements.

We recommend planning services within two weeks to allow loved ones time for grieving, reflection, and healing.

What grief support resources are available for our family?
We offer grief support to help families navigate the loss of a loved one. Our staff grief support, Teresa Pejsa, is available to provide guidance, resources, and support tailored to your family’s needs. Families are encouraged to reach out any time before, during, or after funeral services.
How long does it take to receive death certificates?
The timeframe for receiving official death certificates can vary depending on the county or state where the death occurred. Typically, certified copies are available within 7–10 business days after the death is registered. In some cases, circumstances related to cause of death can cause delays.
Is the Social Security office notified when someone passes away?
Yes. Olson Funeral Home will notify the Social Security Administration (SSA) once the death certificate has been finalized. This ensures future benefit payments are stopped and allows eligible survivors to apply for certain benefits.
In some cases, a survivor benefit of $255 may be available. If you need to contact SSA directly, you can reach the local Eau Claire office at 1-866-815-2924.
Where does the cremation take place?
We are pleased to share that Olson Funeral Home now offers cremation services through Olson’s Cremation Center in Menomonie. This allows us to handle the entire process with care and respect.
How many people can the funeral home accommodate?
Our chapel comfortably seats up to 100 people, with overflow seating available in our reception hall, which includes TV monitors and sound.
The reception hall features 14 round tables with seating for up to 100 guests, with additional overflow space available, making it ideal for gatherings, meals, and memorial receptions.
